Combined taming method

The combined taming method ®

that I have developed throughout all these years is not a rigid methodology, but a constantly evolving practice. I do not consider there to be absolute truths in the matter of teaching a horse.

My curiosity to learn how to teach something to a colt has led me to study different disciplines, and to become acquainted with many different visions regarding horses.

I have had the opportunity to know the methodology and work philosophy of tamers, horse lovers, high-performance trainers, sportsmen, and breeders. Each equestrian discipline emphasizes different things: I learned to identify the precepts that are useful to me in each of them, in order to combine them based on my criteria and the performance to which each horse is destined.

The ethological view to relate to a colt that arrives at the taming center is the key: A horse will always tell the truth.

Using different exercises, I establish a relationship with the horse, from a playful as possible place, but without ever losing attentiveness and firmness. I am always clear about the goal that I want to achieve with him.

I build my relationship with the colt from a place of leadership and responsibility. In this way, by instilling hierarchy and discipline, I have a permeable horse occupied in understanding what is asked of him.

I don’t use the conditioned reflex of food reward. A horse that is attentive and focused on work will always seek to understand

Every horse is different. I use different exercises, according to each one of them, to achieve the objectives in the reasonable time of my taming. The length of each taming is determined by the conditions of each client and the discipline to which the horse is destined.

At El Potrero taming center, we are trainers. Horses spend a period training for their future sporting life, and they leave with the necessary tools to continue their growth and development in each discipline.

Classic, western, cowboy taming and any equestrian discipline that seeks to perfect the horse begins with the same basic concepts. These are based on the biomechanics of the horse, and adapted to the morphology and conditions of each breed, using very clear techniques to get the most out of each binomial.

All my years of training and work have allowed me to compile this method that I share with you today.

I firmly believe in perseverance and in the genuine nature that working with any animal must have.

The main question we should ask ourselves is why do we do what we do with our horses and what for.
